The Model TR-2000 electret microphone's frequency response has been tailored with a broad rise centering in the upper mid-range and a smooth roll-off below 500Hz. This careful "shaping" optimizes communications effectiveness by increasing the clarity of the received signal, while retaining a pleasing, natural voice reproduction quality.
The Model TR-2000 uses acoustic noise cancelling which was developed to allow clear radio communications, in extremely high ambient noise environments (such as cockpits of powerful piston engine aircraft). Noise cancelling is accomplished by allowing the rear of the microphone diaphragm, as well as the front, to be exposed to the ambient noise field. Since the front and rear sound waves differ in phase from each other by 180 degrees, a highly effective cancellation results. The ambient sound is substantially prevented from being converted to an electrical analog, thereby nearly eliminating it from the microphone output signal.
The Model TR-2000's flexible boom may be bent anywhere along its length, in any direction. The "mechanical memory" provided by the spring-loaded feature allows the boom to maintain its adjustment, even when accidentally bumped of pushed.
Although the Model TR-2000 boom microphone headset weighs only 11 ounces, the large, plush, foam-filled earpads reduce background noise substantially, allowing the operator to hear received signals clearly, even in very noisy environments. The matching padded headband increases comfort on the top of the head and imparts a luxurious appearance to the unit.
The Model TR-2000 microphone and earphones are compatible with almost all modern amateur radio equipment - fixed, portable, handheld or mobile. It also should work well with many "vintage" transceivers, receivers and transmitters. The TR-2000PC version is compatible with nearly any personal computer, and simply plugs-in to sound card on the back of the PC, via the two pre-installed 3.5mm phone plugs. Plug and play for internet telephony or other voice applications.
We have borrowed the term “a la carte” from restaurant menus where it refers to singly priced items, not bundled together with “full meals” that include other items. In this context it means we have completely “unbundled” our Professional communications headset pricing structure so that each buyer can select exactly those features or capabilities required by his/her individual situation, while skipping the others (and not paying for them).
(Fully assembled with connectors for YOUR radio or PC. No push-to-talk button included, ready to plug in and talk, using VOX, or existing PTT. We can make a TR-2000 headset for almost any radio, also including those with modular style microphone connectors, and hand held transceivers.
